Impact Modifiers
Impact modifiers are key additives for increasing flexibility and impact strength to meet physical property requirements of rigid parts. Some unmodified polymers such as rigid polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is brittle at ambient temperatures.
The purpose of a PVC impact modifier is to improve the flexibility and impact resistance of PVC products. PVC is a type of thermoplastic, which means it can be melted and formed into various shapes. However, PVC is a brittle material that is not very resistant to impact. This is where PVC impact modifiers come in.
